Elizabeth Healthy Start & Vivos — Airway-Focused Orthodontics
Straighter teeth and healthier breathing, the conservative way
Orthodontics that looks beyond straight teeth
Crowded teeth, mouth breathing, snoring, and restless sleep often share a root cause: a jaw and airway that didn’t develop with enough room. At Timberline Family Dentistry, our Elizabeth Healthy Start and Vivos treatment takes a different approach to orthodontics. Instead of shaving down or removing teeth to make space, we gently guide the jaw to grow and the dental arch to widen.
The result is a healthier airway, straighter teeth, and, for many patients, better sleep. Whether it’s a growing child or an adult who has struggled with their bite and breathing for years, our team builds a conservative, personalized plan around your needs.
Two airway systems, one goal
Healthy Start (for children)
Healthy Start uses a series of comfortable, removable appliances worn mostly at night to encourage proper jaw development and tooth alignment in growing kids. Because it works with your child’s natural growth, it can address crowding early and help with airway-related habits like mouth breathing and snoring.
Vivos (for kids and adults)
Vivos is an oral appliance system that develops the upper arch and helps open the airway. We offer Vivos for both children and adults as a non-surgical, CPAP-free option for airway and mild-to-moderate sleep-related breathing concerns.
What to expect with Healthy Start and Vivos
- ZA conservative treatment plan focused on arch expansion, not extraction
- ZCustom appliances designed for comfortable, mostly at-home wear
- ZRegular check-ins to track growth, alignment, and progress
- ZCoordination with sleep physicians when a sleep apnea diagnosis is needed
Answers to your Healthy Start and Vivos questions
Who is a good candidate for Healthy Start?
Healthy Start is designed for growing children, especially those showing crowding, mouth breathing, snoring, or restless sleep. An early evaluation helps us catch airway and alignment issues while your child is still developing.
Can Vivos help adults too?
Yes. We offer Vivos treatment for adults as a non-surgical way to support the airway and improve breathing, often as an alternative to a CPAP machine. We’ll determine whether you’re a candidate during your consultation.
How is this different from regular braces or Invisalign?
Traditional orthodontics mainly straightens teeth. Elizabeth Healthy Start and Vivos focus on developing the jaw and airway first, so we can create room for teeth more naturally and support healthier breathing. We also offer Invisalign when clear aligners are the better fit.
Do you diagnose sleep apnea?
Dentists don’t diagnose sleep apnea, but we work closely with sleep physicians who can. Once you have a diagnosis, we provide appliance therapy, including Vivos and other oral appliances, to help manage it. Learn more about our sleep apnea treatment.

Testimonials
Today I visited Timberline Family Dentistry and I was very pleased. Everyone I spoke to was very friendly and kind. The doctor didn’t try to tell me I needed a ton of unnecessary work like others I’ve been to. I would definitely recommend Timberline Family Dentistry.
